Hey! I’m Sammi, the co-founder of EEAATSS instagram and food blog. You might wonder how I, a Senior in high school ended up with an Instagram fan base of 30,000 followers and a food blog. Well let me give you a little background on myself! I’ve lived in New Canaan, Connecticut my whole life, but although New Canaanites refer to the place I call home as “the bubble,” I have broken out time after time. In my short 17 years, I’ve traveled to 5 continents, over 25 countries, and at least 60 cities. Through traveling frequently, I have been exposed to many different cultures starting at a young age. At age six, most of my friends had not been out of the country and only eaten dinosaur chicken nuggets, but I had already traveled to almost 10 countries, and my favorite food was fried calamari. I guess you could say I was your average six year old! Continuously traveling led me to become fascinated with capturing every moment during trips, weather it was a meal, a day trip to a wine country, or a museum, I was always the “family photographer.” In seventh grade for Hanukkah, I upgraded from an iPod touch camera to my first DSLR camera, which is still what I use today, a Canon Rebel t3i. From then on, it traveled with me from Hawaii, to Belize, to New Zealand, then back to Connecticut with an abundance of pictures and memories. Through my travels, I have had the opportunity to try many cultural delicacies, such as shark fin soup from South Africa and cassava cakes from Hong Kong. I began photographing my food because each country I visited had such diverse delicacies and presentations. As I began to be tempted to Instagram every food picture I took, I decided to create a food Instagram. Thinking of a username was one of the hardest parts. For a while, it was @eating.ct, but I then realized most of my pictures were not taking in Connecticut, so it became @eeaatss! I then began to build a loyal fanbase of followers, which led me to add Annie to the account around June of 2016. As our followers continued to grow, we decided we could do so much more than just posting pictures, which took us here, to EEAATSS the blog.
Hi everyone! My name is Annie Farley, and I am one of the co-owners of EEAATSS Instagram and Blog! I am a triplet and one of six kids— so you can imagine the amount of food at our family dinners to feed us growing up. From a young toddler, I have always been surrounded by a family of home-taught cooks. My mother can always be found in the kitchen, spending a significant amount of her day cooking a wonderful dinner to feed me and my five siblings. She was born a natural cook, coming from an Italian family. Our dinners were never short of extravagance, making it impossible to come back for seconds, even thirds. Not only do I come from a large family, but I come from an athletic one. All of my siblings have played lacrosse, soccer, football, and track— odds are that if you name it, they've done it. Unlike partaking in land sports like my siblings, I always found myself drawn to the water. At the age of six, my mother threw me in diving lessons at my local summer club. About four years later in 2010, I joined the USA Junior Olympic Diving Team. From this point on in my life, I began competing at a national level with the USA National Diving Team. With this came many travels across the United States. And with these travels came opportunities to explore new food trends and local cuisines. This is where EEAATSS began. It was born out of a love for diving and a love of travel. This blog and Instagram features trendy and famed food establishments from Connecticut and the states I frequently travel to. I hope you devour our Instagram and blog posts so ahead on and #DigIn!
